Chasing the Fat Herd of Deer…

morning walk

Our walk through the woods includes running after a herd of deer.  Are they called ‘Herds’?  I get to chase about 10 of these giant beasts.  Well to me it feels that way.   This is right smack in the middle of our city.  What fun, my owner got video which we will post here, but it is only of me returning after the chase.  She was too slow to catch the real action!

Yes, it’s me, Molly

Hey all you Dawgs,  I got my picture on the main page of www.ManicforDogs.com.

Yes it is true, that is me & now I am totally famous.  (well in my mind anyway…)  That is all that matters right?  My owner thought that picture of my nose, taken by the 6 year old boy of mine, was great enough for the ‘About Us‘ page.  (click on About Us to see it)  But that was not enough, she put me on the main page! I am having fun running through the woods, she stopped me for a quick photo, check it out here:  www.ManicforDogs.com

Did you see me?  I am loving life right now.  Yes-err-eee   What you may not know is a lot of the dog products on the website are tried & tested in me.  I will write more about them, Stay Tuned!

ManicforMolly

I even know that & I am a dog!

Like I said previously I have two kids that live with me a boy that is 8 and a girl that is 6.  For the last year and a half the boy has been constantly asking for an airsoft bb gun.  Each and every time he has asked he has been denied (You’ll shoot your eye out, kid).  Clearly my owners think he would not be responsible with one of these at his age and they are probably right.

As it turns out the kid has had a $10 gift card burning a hole in his pocket so this week he got to tag along on a trip to Target.  They made me stay in the car, weird.  Once in the toy section he spots his prize…a sling shot with 3 hard foam balls for ammunition for $9.99.  Apparently mom decided to spring for the sales tax rather than teaching her son a valuable financial lesson on taxes and thus avoiding the hard lesson he would have to learn two short days later.

He managed to own this slingshot for two whole days before losing it indefinitely.  He spent the majority of day one pointing it at various family members without ever firing.  He was repeatedly warned not to do this (let me tell you this kid gets a lot more warnings than I did when I was a misbehaving pup).  Day two comes around and all goes well until right before bed time.  For some reason that he can’t even explain, he decides to walk up to his sister and hit her square in the back as she is brushing her teeth.  As you can imagine the next ten minutes were filled with crying, yelling and all the other fun stuff families love to do right before bed.

The excuse given was that he didn’t know that it would hurt.  You don’t have to be as smart as me to figure that out.  You also don’t have to be as smart as me to figure out that an airsoft gun is not in this kid’s future.  Human, will they ever learn?

Somehow I got a couple of things backwards

Birthday Girl Molly

Ever since I was a puppy I’ve had a couple things a bit mixed up and I am probably past the point of fixing them…you know, old dogs and new tricks.  When I play with my family I get pretty carried away and start growling like crazy.  It is not your run of the mill barking, it is a ferocious sounding growl to the point that you would think I intend to inflict harm.  What is funny is that my intentions are quite the opposite.  I am just having fun and get carried away when I am playing.  The second my owners tell me it is time to stop and settle down I roll over on my back and become submissive.  End of story.

On the other hand, if there ever was a time to act or sound ferocious I’m sure I wouldn’t do it.  Strangers can come to the door, ring the doorbell or just walk right in and I wouldn’t make a sound.  I don’t bark at the doorbell or strange banging sounds around the house.  When a legitimate opportunity to sound ferocious presents itself I never take advantage of it.  In fact, quite the opposite, I am much more likely to become completely submissive.

Maybe someday someone will be able to explain to me why I have these wires crossed.  Until then strange people and animals have nothing to worry about when they come around my house…unless they are coming over to play!

Guess What? Blog has been taken over by Dog

It is True… Please note my giant paws have trouble typing…. Ignore any mis-spellings

Hi, my name is Molly and I am a 3 year Old English Sheepadoodle.  My owners own manicfordogs.com, a relatively new website that sells lots of wonderful dog supplies, toys, clothes and just about anything else you would need to keep a dog happy and healthy.  My goal is to talk less about that in the coming days and months and to talk more about the life and times of me and my family.

I live with a family of four and for the most part I run the show around here.  I’m sure that I am not unique in that regard, but it is worth mentioning at this point.  I am not a high maintenance dog, far from it.  I am content to lie around most of the day, take an occasional walk and play with the kids when they feel like playing.  (play Soccer of Course!) Somehow I let my owners turn me into a retrieving dog at an early age so now that has become a bit of a compulsion.

I don’t lead the most exciting life around and this mostly because the family that I live with is not the most exciting family around, however we do manage to have a lot of fun anyway and I plan to share the stories of everyday life here as only a dog can.  Check back every once in a while because I will be updating this blog a few times each week!

Dog Shaved like a Lion ~ Scared people call 911

lion dog

Check out Charles is a 3-year-old male Labradoodle whose owner had him groomed to look like a lion. He plays on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 outside University Pizza on Colley Avenue in Norfolk, VA.  3 people called 911 to report a lion sighting.   “Two calls came after 10 a.m. on Granby Street near the zoo and on Llewellyn Avenue.  About 1:20 p.m., another 911 caller reported seeing a baby lion on Colley Avenue at 50th Street.” per www.Hamptonroads.com  Turns out Charles shaved to look like the mascot of Old Dominion University.  Charles is a cross of Labrador retriever and poodle. You have to love this look!
